If I had to sum up all the issues in the environmental/sustainable v. business as usual debate in one word:

All the short term, most bang for your buck projects have already been taken care of. We’re left with things that have longer timelines for failure and success.

Some believe that the world could run out of food by 2050. That is an issue that should be dealt with. If a group of scientists have looked at all the data and come to the conclusion that we’re going to run out of food: something might need to be done about it.

Yet no one is moving to address this.

We’re too short-sighted. Too concerned with the here and now. I’m all for living in the moment, but that eventually will become self-destructive.
